Starting August 10, the operations of the Budakalász waste yard will be temporarily suspended for safety reasons. The decision was communicated by the operator, MOHU MOL Zrt., due to the deteriorating technical condition of an adjacent building. Until the reopening, residents can use the Szentendre waste yard.

Why is the waste yard closing in Budakalász?

On August 6, 2026, the local government of Budakalász was officially informed by MOHU MOL Zrt. that the operation of the local waste yard would be temporarily suspended starting August 10, 2026. The direct cause for this closure is the poor technical condition of the facade of a building located in the immediate vicinity of the yard. According to the operating company, it cannot be ruled out that plaster and other structural wall elements might detach from the neighboring facade. This poses a direct risk to the physical safety of clients and workers on the premises, making the suspension of operations unavoidable.

Immediate actions by the municipality and conditions for reopening

Following the notification, the municipality took immediate action by appointing an expert to promptly examine the condition of the building in question. The reopening of the facility relies on the outcome of this assessment:

  • If the expert opinion determines that the waste yard can be used safely, MOHU MOL Zrt. has indicated that the facility can reopen its gates.

  • If the expert concludes that preservation efforts or other technical interventions are required, the municipality will immediately take all necessary steps to eliminate the hazard.

The local government’s primary goal is to ensure that the waste yard can safely welcome clients again as soon as possible.

Where to take waste during the closure? Facts and schedules

Until the Budakalász location is reopened, residents can utilize the Szentendre waste yard as a designated substitute.

Contact details and opening hours of the Szentendre waste yard:

  • Address: 2000 Szentendre, Szabadkai út 9.

  • Opening hours on weekdays (Monday to Friday): 07:00 – 15:30

  • Opening hours on weekends (Saturday): 07:00 – 13:00

MOHU MOL Zrt. specifically requests that all clients arriving to drop off waste must arrive at the site at least 30 minutes before closing to ensure proper processing.
