About the editor

Roland Ladányi is a chartered environmental engineer with more than 25 years of professional experience in waste management. He graduated from the Faculty of Earth Science and Engineering of the University of Miskolc in 1999, and his career has since spanned the full breadth of the sector — from the logistics of collection and transport, through treatment technologies, to regulatory and financing questions.

His executive career covers public waste services, recovery and energy alike: he previously held management positions at NHSZ Miskolc Kft., Biogas-Miskolc Kft. and AVE Zöldfok Zrt. He is currently the managing owner of enviLOVE Kft.

Alongside his professional work, he taught for seven years at the University of Miskolc, covering the engineering and management aspects of waste management. He is the creator of the MaKuka awareness brand and its sub-programmes — Makukáció, MakuTruck, MakuTaxi, MaKuckó and MÚKI — which bring waste management knowledge to children and the wider public in a playful, experience-based form.

He founded the Don’t waste it! portal in 2013 with the aim of making developments in Hungarian and international waste management — news, technologies, regulatory changes and circular economy solutions — accessible to both the profession and a wider audience, in plain language but to professional standards.
