Turning Textile Waste into Warmth: Thermore Launches Ecodown Fibers T2T Insulation

Italy-based thermal insulation expert Thermore has announced a major leap in sustainable apparel manufacturing. Introduced on March 11, 2026, in Milan, the new Ecodown Fibers T2T is a free fiber insulation made from recycled polyester waste from the textile supply chain. This innovation transforms textile waste into high-performance warmth, redefining responsible thermal insulation for the fashion and outdoor industries.

The Clever Blend: 80% Textile Waste and 20% PET Bottles

The new Ecodown Fibers T2T insulation is composed entirely of 100% recycled polyester fibers. To achieve the optimal balance of sustainability and performance, the manufacturing process utilizes a specific blend:

  • 80 percent of the material comes from post-industrial textile waste.

  • 20 percent of the material is derived from post-consumer PET bottles.

Unlike typical textile recovery processes that often result in downcycling, Ecodown Fibers T2T maintains the exact same high quality expected from other premium Thermore products.

High Performance, Durability, and Versatility

Beyond its environmental benefits, the product is engineered for practical performance. Ecodown Fibers T2T provides high lofting and softness, ensuring optimal comfort for the wearer.

During garment manufacturing, this highly versatile free fiber can be applied in multiple ways:

  • It can be blown directly into baffles.

  • It can be placed inside panels.

  • It can be applied manually by hand.

Furthermore, the physical structure of the insulation is specifically designed to remain stable over time, which minimizes clumping.

Industry-Leading Certifications

To guarantee safety, quality, and traceability, Ecodown Fibers T2T holds several rigorous international certifications:

  • GRS (Global Recycled Standard): Verifies the content of the recycled materials and ensures full traceability along the production chain.

  • Bluesign®: Relates to the strict control of chemical substances used during production.

  • OEKO-TEX® Standard 100: Ensures compliance with rigorous criteria for product safety and health protection.

Over 50 Years of Insulation Expertise

Founded in 1972 and based in Milan, Thermore specializes in the research, development, and production of high-quality thermal insulation for apparel. The company partners with leading fashion and outdoor brands globally, operating manufacturing facilities in both Europe and the Far East.

Patrizio Siniscalchi, Managing Director of Thermore, emphasized the company’s long-standing commitment to sustainability and circularity. “In fact, just as we pioneered the use of recycled fibers from PET bottles over 40 years ago, in recent years we have worked on the revaluation of textile waste,” Siniscalchi stated. He added that Ecodown Fibers T2T represents the second generation of padding the company has successfully produced using these crucial resources.
